Advantages and Disadvantages of Wooden Kitchen Worktops

Wood work surfaces have shaken off their image and now scrubbed kitchen table that is wood from around the world, some very long-lived forest sources are available (though avoid buying endangered tropical hardwood, if you can: a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) label marks from wood from sustainable sources. panels must be sealed to protect them from moisture (especially in centrally heated homes) and can either be finished with a lacquer, should be reapplied every year, or be oiled every two to three months. Oiled wood is tougher and more resistant to heat, the marks made of painted wood, and it also improves with age. Another possibility is to use tons of grains de-wood (eg wood, which was filmed at the end and) glued together in blocks. This has the appearance of a cutting board, is less likely to warp and make a good cutting surface, as it is much more difficult. Painted plywood (glued together in layers to give a profile striped)can also be a good and very inexpensive countertop. The costs vary depending on the type of wood and application: In general, the more durable the wood, the higher the cost.

Advantages:
The great diversity of forests is a great potential for creativity: a wooden worktop can work dark and luxurious (stained oak well - if you can find a sustainable source), warm and honey-colored (reclaimed teak, maple) or pale and interesting (Beech,Elm, spruce).

It is warm, soft, natural and improved with the side.

Wooden worktop can get a little softer and clatter.

It can be used to smooth the hard edges and glossy finish stainless steel and glass and is also more heat to a cool white kitchen.

Can be installed by a competent amateur.

To maintain fairly simple: re-oil (tung oil, home improvement stores sold separately) or paint as needed and to avoid harsh abrasives. Survival can be a goodMacchia, if you feel the need.

Disadvantages:
All wood is to a certain degree of fault in a centrally heated kitchen, although deciduous trees are less affected.

The line connecting the end grain of wood can begin to open, if not properly sealed.

Will stain, scratch and burn so be prepared to use, to cutting board.
